In the company of friends: CARGo everyday

Our annual event, CARGo and Bend Disaster Relief Trials was a few weeks ago and I’ve been thinking about how good I felt that day and how to keep the feeling alive all year in our community.  I’m fortunate to be in the shop, surrounded by electric bikes, trying out new ones as they arrive and talking to folks who are coming to the conclusion that biking is the way they want to get around Bend.  I love seeing our customers out and about enjoying their bikes and sharing the feeling with others. We all know the benefits of biking, but it’s not just the bike. It’s the supportive community of people who want the same thing. We want to feel free. We want to enjoy a happier, low-stress life.  We want to enjoy our wonderful town, up close.  We want our children to experience the same.  That’s why CARGo is such a happy time. We get to be with a bunch of fantastic people who feel the same way and are doing it everyday.  If you haven’t experienced it yet, I highly recommend joining next year and catching the feeling.  Don’t worry, you don’t need to join a club or have a special bike. We just want you to consider riding your bike more often - and a party helps!
One way I remember the feeling and stay motivated is my annual takeaway - the famous trucker hats that Fink Ink prints for our CARGo-goers.  This year, I especially loved the Sassy images, created by our friend Sweet Pea Cole.  It makes me smile and think of CARGo.  When I wear it, people always inquire and it’s an opportunity to share the love.  When I see someone in the community wearing one, I feel part of something - there are friends and allies all around!
This summer, we would love to see you out enjoying the good life, sporting your hats!  Snap a photo and hashtag #bendelectricbikes so we can see what you’re up to and inspire folks as well.  Have fun out there and...go ride your bike!
