The CARGo Bike Rodeo is for avid cyclists, cargo bike adventurers, or anyone who is cycle-curious. It's a free, family friendly event with obstacle courses, live music, food and of course beer. It will also be a fun place to watch the DRT action, take test rides, learn about cargo bikes, emergency preparedness and biking in Bend. Listen to live music, eat great food and drink great beverages!

Plus.... Bend Disaster Relief Trials

Imagine that a major disaster has happened, where cars and buses will have been rendered useless. Gasoline might be unavailable or in very short supply. Bicycles — especially ones with carrying capacity — will be the last vehicles standing.

DRT recognizes cargo bikes' relevance in disaster relief using fun, flair and grit and encourages cargo bike-based relief.

The DRT event started in Portland and has since been organized in Seattle, San Francisco, Eugene, Seattle and now Bend and will be the kick-off for the 3rd Annual CARGo Bike Rodeo.

How Does It Work?

Riders will begin at Bend Electric Bikes and be given a map 30 minutes beforehand that shows a schedule of checkpoints where they will pick up disaster related items, ride through/over water and land barriers as well as some rough terrain. All of this in the spirit of raising awareness of the cargo bike's many uses and value in a disaster.
